A few words about me...

As I firmly believe that brevity is the mother of clarity, I'll keep this short.

Basically, I solve problems creatively.

I’m an award-winning copywriter, occasional journalist and published author with extensive international experience in integrated marketing, communications, and brand and applications development. Long list of accomplishments; short list below.

Oh, and I also captained Ogilvy’s London softball team and can skate backwards.

And more than a few about my career.

• Freelance Copywriter & Content Strategy Consultant, London and San Francisco

As a freelancer, I provide a wide variety of senior-level creative and strategy services to both agencies and clients. I work both remotely and on site, and am most often called on to help develop the creative concepts for new-business pitches. But I'm also happy to jump in as client-ready cover for creatives who are on leave or holiday.

• Senior Practice Consultant – Content & Copywriting, EMC Consulting, London

For B&Q, I co-created a seamless, five-year-out, multi-channel customer experience vision. I then led the content strategy portion of our pitch that helped to win additional business from them, conducted an enterprise-wide content audit, and wrote the subsequent content strategy for what’s currently the largest retail transformational programme in Britain. I also rewrote the MBNA/Bank of America online credit card service website used by 8 million cardholders in the UK and Ireland; developed copy and improved the tone of voice for Barclaycard’s consumer website, and wrote the UX copy for a number of their mobile applications. I also developed copy, concept  and application ideas for several other clients and potential clients, including Waitrose, Dixons, and John Lewis.

• Chief Wit, Cobham Creative, London
Freelance concepts and copywriting for European and American clients and agencies. Highlight: created creative concepts and developed the tone of voice that helped win a major new-business pitch to the British Government.

• Senior Copywriter, OgilvyOne Worldwide, London and San Francisco
Provided direct marketing concepts and copy for both on and off-line projects for American Express,
British Airways, British Gas, British Telecom, IBM, SAP, Cisco, Goldman Sachs and Barclays.

• Creative Communications Consultant, San Francisco and Weybridge
As an independent writer and creative consultant to ad and design agencies, and directly to
corporations, I provided team leadership, client management, strategic and creative concepts, and copywriting for hundreds of successful internal and external marketing and communications projects.

Clients included Intel, Bank of America, GE Insurance, Hewlett-Packard, Electronic Arts and Sega.  Freelanced creative services to numerous agencies, including DesignTribe, J.Brown/Grey,  Wunderman, and Murder Inc./OWNP in San Francisco, among others.

• Agency Principal, Watermark Communications, San Francisco
Started company from scratch to provide consumer and B2B PR services. Initially managed four  accounts for Edelman Public Relations, then grew my own business from one client to ten, including a  golf resort and a chain of Sheraton and Ramada hotels.

• PR Director, SYBEX Computer Books, Berkeley, Paris, Düsseldorf

Responsible for all book publicity and corporate communications worldwide, helping grow the
